Heartland Payment Systems Data Breach Information
Heartland Payment Systems, Inc., one of the largest debit/credit card
processing companies in the nation, has discovered an internal security
breach within its processing system. They
have announced that the breach resulted in the compromise of cardholder
names, card numbers and expiration dates on an undisclosed number of
accounts.
They have confirmed
that it did not include cardholders
Social Security numbers, unencrypted personal identification numbers,
addresses or telephone numbers or merchant data.
This security breach was from the card processor
not your credit union.
Heartland is not a vendor for LCCU, rather they
process credit card and debit transactions for companies you may do
business with.
As an LCCU member, we want to assure you that
your accounts are being monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for
suspicious activity and that we will contact you if any suspicious
transactions are identified. We would greatly appreciate it if you
utilize online banking or 24-hour phone banking to periodically check
your account and notify us immediately if you identify any unusual
activity.
